Walls are a rather key part of most buildings. They help provide shelter, cover unsightly parts of infrastructure, help hold up the ceiling and roof. They also serve to separate, to provide privacy and to be a showcase for decorative arts.
A wall can be a divider between properties or an interior wall dividing rooms. When measuring rooms or square footage, keep in mind that walls take up space. If a wall is 6 inches thick, then a room could be a 10 foot by 10 foot square or 100 square feet on the inside, but if measure on the outside, it's 11 x 11 or 121 square feet.
Some walls are better than at insulating sound than others.
Decorating walls[edit | edit source]
Walls provide a rather easy way to change the look of a room. You can paint or wallpaper them. You can hang pictures or display cases. A very quick change can be made by picking some sheets or cloth that you like the look of and stapling it to the wall as a hanging. There are also pre-printed wall borders that you can put up like wallpaper, or some with adhesive on the back, so you just peel and stick them, usually in a border around the upper area of the wall. There are also non-adhesive appliqués made out of vinyl or other materials that you can stick on the walls and remove when you're tired of them. (See Wall Pops for one example.)
