Sharecroppers' Hoe

a hoe, ready to be put to work

A hoe can help break up soil, kill weeds and design a garden plot. It is a tool often used by gardeners.

Chopping through the ground can help control weeds, including some weeds that have not showed up above the ground yet. Swing the rake down so that it hits the ground around the weeds at about a 45 degree angle, cutting through and killing them.

It is usually best to stand as straightly as possible when using a hoe to avoid back strain.
