craft room for sewing with shelves for fabrics

"Cloth" redirects here.

Fabric, generally cloth woven from individual threads, serves many purposes in our homes. It's used in our clothes, to upholster our furniture, to decorate furnishings, to protect and pad items. A piece of fabric can also be used as a separator between spaces, to divide rooms or make a light-weight door.

Cleaning tips[]

Because fabric is made by weaving threads, dirt or liquid can be caught on or between the threads. Fabric has the advantage of being flexible and allowing differing amounts of airflow, but the disadvantage of being more difficult to clean.

See the different materials above for specific cleaning techniques. Most fabrics or clothes are best cleaned by a combination of water and soap, but some can be distorted when wet, so chemical or "dry cleaning" is recommended.
