A drawer is usually part of a piece of furniture like a bureau or desk, or part of the cabinetry.

Good drawers slide open and close easily and have a stop that keeps them from accidentally sliding all the way out. Usually you need to tilt them to get past the stop. In humid climates, wooden furniture can swell and stick, especially on older furniture where the rollers and slides are made of wood. Newer rollers and slides are often made of plastic. Some rollers or slides are made of metal. Rubbing the rollers with soap, oil or wax may help.

The look or style of furniture with drawers can be changed by painting or staining the front piece and by changing the hardware "pulls" or handles.
