A dining room is a place for groups to eat. Some homes have multiple places to dine. In addition to a dining room, a home might have eating places in the kitchen, a kitchen nook, and/or a "breakfast room". And those are just the places intended primarily for eating, usually at a permanently set up table and chair set. Depending on the household, eating in other rooms may or may not be customary or permitted. In some homes, the dining room is the primary or only place to eat.
