Candy is a snack, a dessert, and a hostess gift. It comes from many cultures. Chocolate is a famous candy to eat and create. There are also hard candies to suck on, like lolly-pops.
Most candy is relatively non-perishable, and especially when wrapped may be kept out (not requiring refrigeration or additional protection). In some homes, they keep a dish of candy out to offer to guests.
