A broom is one of the world's oldest cleaning tools. There are many images, traditions and sayings around brooms. A broom is a long-handed brushlike tool usually made up of a stick and attached straw or stiff, thin, bristles. The bristles on a home broom are usually long, while an industrial or commercial broom may have a wider cross piece with more and shorter bristles. The bristles may be made of natural materials, such as straw or twigs, or synthetic, such as plastic.
